Carl M. Seager, 74, of 227 Auburn Rd., Lansing, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Cayuga Medical Center.

Born in Pompey, NY, Carl was the son of the late Claude and Grace (Harvey) Seager.

He grew up in the Cortland area and, after high school, joined the US Marines where he proudly served for four years during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by New York State as a Correctional Officer, serving at various facilities throughout New York State and ultimately retiring from the Watertown Correctional Facility. Carl was an avid sportsman, never passing on an opportunity to go hunting, fishing, camping, or play an occasional round of golf. He was a member of the VFW post 961 in Ithaca. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Tina Walters of Cortland; his three sons, Derek (Diane) Seager of Cortland, Kirk (Susan) Seager of FL, Scott (Penny) Seager of IN; nine grandchildren; his companion of 30 years, Louise Sisson, of Lansing; and numerous friends.

Family will be present to receive friends on Sunday, February 8, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing. Prayers of committal, officiated by Pastor William Gottschalk-Fielding, along with Military Honors, will be on Monday, February 9, 2009, at 1 p.m. at North Lansing Cemetery.
