James Jeffrey “Jeff” Lovejoy, 72, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by family on June 3, 2026. Born on October 23, 1953, in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of the late Gerald and Wanda (Grady) Lovejoy.
Jeff served in the US Army for three years during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon his return home, he went to work for NYSEG for the next 37 years until his retirement in 2010. He was affectionally known as “juice” at work. He also served on the Lansing school board for several years.
Jeff’s life revolved around his family. He was always involved with their sports, work or friends—who were family. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow and play sports and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. There is nothing Jeff couldn’t fix.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie (Blake); sons, JJ (Nichole), Joey (Kelly) and Jason (Erin); grandchildren, Kaleigh (Owen) Davis, Kiara, Korbin, Ava, Eli, Lily, Troy, and Trent Lovejoy; siblings Kathy (Donald), Gary (Leora) and Lisa (Bob) Spencer; and a “special sister,” Terry Blake Haines. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Jerid.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Road, Lansing. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will hold a private burial service in Lansingville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Jeff’s name to the Lansing wrestling program (link pending) or to Hospicare.
