Cindy Marie (Friedman) Willmot, 59, of South Waverly and Columbia Crossroads, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, due to complications of a heart attack. Cindy was born on May 29,1967, in Eufaula, AL, to the late Elton Friedman and Camellia (Whitaker) Scott.

Cindy lived her life in service to others. She was a caregiver, a mentor, a veteran, and a teacher. A devoted daughter, sister, and mother, Cindy opened her heart and her home to many. Her passion for her family led her to homeschool her children and care for her elderly mother until her mother’s death in 2015. She was a gifted writer and had a love for literature, a passion for researching her family genealogy, and gardening.

As a young girl, Cindy participated in the March of Dimes and was an avid supporter of the organization.

Cindy was a lifelong learner and earned her bachelor's degree in English from PennWest Clarion in 2021 and a master's degree in Education from PennWest California in 2023.

For the last two years, Cindy lived her dream by teaching AP Language and British Literature at Troy Area Junior-Senior High School. She was a dedicated educator who committed her days to the students and community of Troy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Stephen Willmot of South Waverly and Troy, PA, and her seven children: Ross Willmot of Los Angeles, CA, Garrett Willmot of Las Vegas, NV, Collin Willmot of Iwakuni, Japan, Brenna Willmot of Bradford, PA, Emmett Willmot of South Waverly, PA, Annabel Willmot, and Merryn Willmot, of Troy, PA. She is also survived by her sister Keli (Friedman) Frymire and husband Kris of Freeport, FL, her brother Todd Friedman and wife Jeanne, of Headland, AL, niece Chelsea (Friedman) Bartlett and husband Tyler of Birmingham, AL, as well as her cherished niece and nephew, Aubrey and Eli Frymire.

A private service for Cindy’s family will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Ithaca, NY. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer in Troy, PA.
