Carol Lea Lawrence (Hayes) Riker, formerly of 8 Briarwood Lane, Newfield, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Cayuga Ridge on March 15, 2026. She was 86 years old.

Born April 17, 1939, Carol was the daughter of the late Herbert and Eva Lawrence. She was a graduate of Newfield Central School. Carol was predeceased by her husband William Riker and sisters Shirley Landstrom and Beverly Carcelli.

Carol, a lifelong resident of Newfield, and Bill were married for 42 years and raised a blended loving family consisting of son Richard (Charla) Hayes, daughter Judy (Richard) Neno, daughter Tama (Bruce) Stotts, son Timothy Hayes (Joleen Davis) and daughter Michelle (Gene) King. Other survivors include cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as grandchildren Heather (Ken) Allen, Stephanie Hanville (Wayne McCarthy), Tommy Kelly (Tiffany Kendrick), Robby Hayes (Mike Quakenbush), Richard (Joelle) Neno Jr., Angelina (Tim) Bliss, Michael (Sarah) Melice, Carol (Adam) Holic, Nicholas and Corey Hayes, Marissa (Eli) Ford, and Meghan (Jared Fonda), Taylor and Nathan King. Great-grandchildren include Morgan Neno, Cayden Hanville, Eric (Reese) Hanville, Johnathan Hanville, Emma, Addison and Claire Neno, Chase, Carter, Nora and Sawyer Allen, Timothy and Phoebe Bliss, Charley and Tommy Holic, and Dash Melice. Carol had one great-great grandson, Sawyer Hanville.

Carol enjoyed singing, baking and quilting. She was a member of the Newfield United Methodist Church for over 50 years, Newfield Senior Citizens and the Newfield Red Hat Society, as well as a ladies birthday group. Carol volunteered her time and talent as a Sunday School teacher and choir member at Newfield Methodist Church and was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader.

The family will be present to receive friends and family on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 10-11 am followed by a service at the Newfield United Methodist Church, 227 Main Street, Newfield, NY 14867. Lansing Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A committal service at Woodlawn Cemetery will be private following the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol’s memory may be directed to the Newfield United Methodist Church at the address above.

Carol lived her life unselfishly, always putting others before herself. She has a special place in heaven and in all our hearts.
