Thomas Scott Hoaglin, 59, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his loving family on November 9, 2022. Born in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of Robert Hoaglin, Sr. and the late Winona Jane Krom. Tom earned a B.S. in Accounting from Ithaca College and began his career at Therm, Inc. in Ithaca. For over twenty years, he was employed by Casella Waste Systems, most recently in the role of Assistant Region Controller.
Tom’s greatest passion in life was spending time with his family. He loved being outdoors, bonfires, riding his John Deere Gator, loud classic rock music, and fast cars—especially his Corvette. He was extremely smart and always a hard worker.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Ann (Schumacher) Hoaglin on February 15, 2020, and his mother, Winona Jane Krom on December 16, 2021. He is survived by his two daughters, Brenna (Logan Lovelace) Hoaglin of Newfield, NY and Leigha Hoaglin of Lansing; siblings, Robert (LauraLee) Hoaglin, Jr. of Lakeville, MN, Yvonne (Grady) Whittenburg of Lansing, and Michael (Amy) Hoaglin of McLean, NY; father, Robert Hoaglin, Sr. of Brownsville, TX; and nieces and nephews, Marc (Amy) Hoaglin, Jenna (Eric) Stickel, Stefan Whittenburg, Rachel (Steve) Naranjo, and Heather Hoaglin.
A memorial service celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Ithaca First Assembly of God, 197 Bostwick Road, Ithaca, NY 14850, with Pastor John Sotero officiating. Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
