Suzanne L. Bury

Suzanne Louise Bury, age 79, of Ithaca, passed away peacefully February 26, 2014 at Cayuga Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Born January 2, 1935 in rural California, Suzanne is the daughter of the late Oscar and Wealthy (Murphey) Rickter. Prior to retirement, she had a 35 year career with Cornell Cooperative Extension in Ithaca.

She was a talented poet, artist, and nature photographer. She was an active member of the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca for five decades. She also enjoyed nature walks, her cats, reading (especially mystery novels), exploring family history, and Scrabble.

Suzanne is survived by her sons, Richard Bury of MI, Peter Bury of Ithaca and Charles Bury of MD; two granddaughters, Amelia and Ryley; brother, Donald Rickter of MA; sister, Bonnie Huestis of WA; and many loving friends.

A private burial took place at Greensprings Natural Cemetery, Newfield, NY. A memorial service to celebrate Suzanne’s life will be held at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca on April 13th.
