Sarah Carthon

The Story of Sarah Carthon. Sarah was a wonderful Woman who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.  “Grandma,” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, “The Mayor,” as she was called by some, was an amazing Mom, Daughter, Sister and Aunt like no other could be.

Sarah’s story starts on May 3, 1943, the child to Annie Mae Dibbles and Cody Sr. Mushatt. Sarah was born in Red Level, Alabama, where she would spend her childhood, grow up, make many lifelong friends, and attend school.  Sarah spent many hardworking years to help support her family. She was employed as a Nurse and worked at the Allatact Creating Shirt Collars. Sarah decided to move to New York many years later where she worked for a Dental Lab, then moved into her Final Career as a Machinist in Ithaca, New York.

Sarah Enjoyed Life, Shopping and spending time with family and friends. Most of all, Sarah was renowned for her cooking and baking skills; Southern roots brought so much flavor and vibrancy to her family. The words she spoke, her accent, and her love for food always brought togetherness.  No matter who or what you were, she didn’t judge and her kitchen was always open. She never had a problem teaching anyone how to cook, she had a technique for everything, and she never had a problem taking requests for her cooking.

Sarah’s grandchildren were her heart and joy. There’s no denying that, her Grand boys and Granddaughters as she called them, were the people that she Genuinely loved the most. Time spent at Grandma’s house was very special.

Loved ones who cleared the path are her Father Cody Sr. Mushatt, Mother Annie Mae Dibbles, her Daughter Marilyn Mushatt, Grandson Dariess Ethan Allen, her Sisters Faye Mack, Eva Mae Welch, Mary Evelyn Bradley, and her brother Joe Butter. Sarah’s Loved ones that will miss Her Abundantly until they meet again are her Two Daughters Wendy Mushatt and Pamela Rockett, her son in-law Dewrail Rockett, Daughter in-law Paula Allen (Dameon Allen), her sisters Linda Gantt, Susie Byrd, Betty Mushatt, Deborah Mushatt, her brother Cody Mushatt, and her grandchildren Dameon Allen, Cherrelle Rockett, Daquan Rockett, Quandale Mushatt, Jada Mushatt, Thy’hja George, Wayne Spencer, Janae Gilmore and Michael Gilmore, Her Great-Great Grandchildren, Mia Allen, Santiago Allen, Kalliyanna Gilmore, Kayden, Kaleb, Kingsley Spencer, Zakaya Lawton, and Zakari Williams, and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Many Friends.
