Sadie Rosaria Candela

Sadie Rosaria Candela passed on peacefully in the loving company of her daughter, Michelle Candela-Jordan, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. She was born on January 20, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Rosolino and Michelina Candela of Sicily. During her formative years she acted as an active member of student council, drama club, and was an avid writer of poetry. She had a vibrant and fulfilling social life filled with beloved friends and family alike, known for her incredible sense of style and fierce independence. In 1970, she welcomed her daughter, Michelle, into the world in Salinas, California. Sadie was a proud career woman, working within numerous secretarial unions between California and Westchester, NY, where she resided for much of her life. After retirement, Sadie enjoyed volunteering at the Westchester Medical Center gift shop, the Westchester County voting polls, the Mt. Kisco Senior Center, and being a grandmother to her two grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents Rosolino and Michelina Candela, her brother Rosolino Candela, and her sister Josephine (Joe) Piedimonte.

Sadie will be dearly missed by her daughter Michelle Candela-Jordan of Ithaca, New York, and grandchildren Carson and Carver Jordan of New York, New York. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Evelyn Candela, nephew Russell (Robbyn) Candela, nieces Kimberly Scarola, Nicole (Philip) Marcantonio, and Jodene (Mark) Vasquez, and godson and nephew Joseph (Giuseppina) Piedimonte. Additionally, she is survived by her two first cousins Patty Cerrato and Josphine Martin, as well as many great nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association and Hospicare at 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850, in loving memory of Sadie Rosaria Candela.
