Phillip Basil Watkins, Jr.

Phillip Basil Watkins, Jr., 83, of Endicott, NY, died as the result of lung cancer at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca on February 21, 2016.

A native of Scranton, PA, Phillip graduated from Scranton Technical High School and proudly served four years with the US Air Force.  After an honorable discharge, he relocated to the Binghamton area and earned his certification as a tool & dye maker, studying under the GI Bill.   Over the years Phillip had worked at Ellis Tools, Sosenko Mfg., and General Electric in Johnson City.  He retired from Cornell Cooperative Extension in Broome County.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Schaefer Watkins; their three children, Maribeth (Kevin) McCue of Manchester, NH, Eric N. (Brenda Wickes) Watkins of Ithaca, NY, and Philip J. (Kristina) Watkins of Fairport, NY; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren and one great grandson.

A private burial service was held on February 23, 2016 at Greensprings Natural Cemetery, Newfield, NY.

A celebration of his life is being planned at a later date in Endicott.  Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
