Pamela Anne Williams Cawley, 82, died Feb. 17, 2012, at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home in Ithaca NY. She was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Atlanta GA to Leonard H. and Mabel Jones Williams. Pam was a Free Thinker, Humanist, world traveler and persistent individualist with a unique sense of humor and a love of puns and language. She graduated from Antioch College worked as a librarian in NYC, CT, and for many years at the Jervis Public Library in Rome, NY. She lived with her husband Frank in Camden NY, then New Bern NC, spending summers on a remote island in Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, Canada. Pam moved to Ithaca after Frank’s death in 1999. She supported the civil rights movement, the Southern Poverty Law Center, ACLU, Elder Hostel, The Skeptics Society and volunteered her time to Habitat for Humanity and the Tompkins County Public Library. She is survived by her sisters, Carol Thibadeau of Atlanta, Cora Witten of Chiriqui Panama, her niece and caregiver Patti Witten of Ithaca, her sisters’ children Leonard, Jan, Julie and Ceci, and a great many cousins.
