Norman E. Snyder, 85, of Lansing, NY, died peacefully on January 10, 2022, while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lansing, NY, on January 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Ruth (Miller) and Edgar Snyder. He graduated from Lansing High School in 1955 where he was a three-sport varsity letterman. He attended Cornell University and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 through 1958. On June 11, 1960, he married Joanne Sidle and remained wed to her until her death on October 19, 2017. He was a dedicated family man who raised four sons and was an avid sports fan (Lansing Bobcats, Syracuse Orange, and New York Giants) and enjoyed keeping up on current events. He was a self-employed businessman who owned and operated West Side Gulf in Ithaca for several years and was subsequently a Mac Tools distributor. He retired in 1998 and enjoyed gardening, reading several daily newspapers, tinkering in the garage, going on walks, being outdoors, and a medium rare steak and cold beer every Saturday night. He is survived by his sons (and their spouses), Norman Jr. (Michaela) of Wilton, CT, Scott (Sue) of Austin, TX, daughter-in-law Kathleen of Lansing, NY, and Deron (Karen) of Moravia, NY, brother Gary and sister Eileen, twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Kevin, brother Larry, and sisters Lucille and Elaine. Calling hours and funeral services will be private at Lansing Funeral Home. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
