It is with great sadness that the family of Nicholas Boles announces his passing on Sunday, December 28, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend, Nick leaves behind a family who will deeply miss his strength, his steady presence, his guidance, and the quiet way he made everything feel safer simply by being there.
Nick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonny; his children, Kelli Boles (Billy Smithshelly), Tommy Boles (Kristie Boles), and Billie Downs (Jeremy Downs); his grandchildren, Kiana, Tyriq, Logan, Gavin, Dakota, Dyson, and Declan; his siblings, Sherri Hildreth, John Boles, and Lori Dailey; and his father, Raymond “Stub” Boles. He was predeceased by his mother, Nora Boles.
Nick was a quiet man, but when he spoke, people listened. He was the epitome of “old school,” believing that respect was earned, your word was gold, and a handshake was the only contract you needed. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught his family about hard work, perseverance, and never giving up. He was tough, stubborn, and deeply loving—sometimes all at once. When life knocked him down, again and again, Nick got back up and kept fighting, defying the odds for years with a resilience few could match.
Before retiring, Nick spent many years working at John C. Lowery, first as an employee and later as a co-owner, alongside many people he respected and valued.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Nick fought the good fight and both loved deeply and was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be forever missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
The family extends special thanks to Heather, Sara, Cheryl, and Dr. Samhi, whose care made it possible for Nick to spend this past year at home.
A celebration of life will be held this summer. If you have photos, stories, or memories you would like to share with the family, please email them to downsbillie22@yahoo.com.
