Monae Carressma Lender passed away unexpectedly and far too soon on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 22 years of age. Monae was born in Syracuse, NY on March 19, 2000. She had a kind, warm and gentle nature, and was at the same time very spirited, independent, resourceful and intelligent. She loved theatre, dance, music, roller coasters, travel, cooking, and above all, spending time with her family and friends. Monae was an enthusiastic participant in her school chorus and numerous theatrical productions; she achieved her brown belt in karate. When in school, Monae took every opportunity to participate in clubs and activities; she was always willing to try something new. While in transit to her many activities or social events, if the GPS failed and left the driver lost, Monae could always provide directions; but she could probably also fix the GPS, because she was very adept with technology. Her smile lit up the room and her laughter was infectious. She was a loving caretaker of her family pets, and adored young children. Monae was hoping to pursue a degree and career in early childhood education.
Monae was charismatic and gregarious, and she was loved by a very broad circle of people. She had very close relationships with Grandma Carrie and Grandpa Michael, and was deeply saddened by their passing during her teen years. She is survived by her three beloved children; immediate family members Marla, Donna, Karen, Marilyn, Lisa, Robert, Tyquan, Raymond, China, Nizjue and Jaden; and a large extended family including much loved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Private services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Booth House- Shelter for Runaway and Homeless Youth (3624 Midland Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13205).
