Michael J. Herzog passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 16, 2023, after a brave battle with leukemia.
Born in 1962 in Queens, New York to Hans and Luise Herzog, Michael received a B.S. from Cornell University. During his esteemed 39-year career as a landscape architect and planner, he owned the landscape architecture firm HMH Site & Sports Design, before joining the LA Group in 2015.
Michael was a longtime N.Y. Yankees fan, coached the Lansing High School state champion baseball team, and was the announcer for Lansing Soccer Club. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker, from Zion to Grand Canyon and Glacier to Yosemite.
Michael is survived by his wife, Michaleen, his three sons, Edmund, Harrison (Rosie) and Clinton, his sister, Ursula Russ, and his three cats, Stella, Stanley and Simon.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Philip McCarthy, Dr. Eunice Wang, Hector Tirado, RN and the team of medical professionals who cared for Michael at the Roswell Park Cancer Center and Cayuga Medical Center.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena, 309 Siena Drive, Ithaca, with a reception to follow at the parish center.
