IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha (Moore)
Laux
November 22, 1949 – November 30, 2025
Martha M. Laux, 76, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2025. Born in Rochester, NY, on November 22, 1949, she was the daughter of Robert Moore and the late Elizabeth (Marshall) Moore.
Martha was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She was loving, kind, understanding and patient, and she was always a warm and welcoming presence. Whether she was raising her own children, interacting with community members, or providing guidance to new mothers, Martha made it her life’s work to take care of others.
Always learning, Martha had a thirst for knowledge and provided guidance during some of life’s most defining moments. She studied birthing techniques and taught hypnobirthing, and for many years, she was a La Leche League group leader, providing education and support to breastfeeding mothers. She also taught English as a second language to a local Ukrainian family and hosted, with her husband Ted, a foreign exchange student from Germany. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and baking, as evidenced by the hundreds of recipes her family has preserved.
Above all, family was closest to Martha’s heart. She is survived by her loving husband, Ted Laux, and their children: James (Victoria) Laux, Mandella Laux and Gareth (Emily) Richards. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Alyndrya and Gwendolyn Richards, and Charlotte and Robert Laux; her brothers, Charles (Wendy) Moore and Stephen (Cheryl) Moore; her father, Robert Moore; and her sister-in-law, Christina Lund. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Moore; and her brother, Thomas Moore.
In keeping with Martha’s wishes, funeral services will be private. For those who wish to honor her with a charitable contribution, please consider Doctors Without Borders, ACLU, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Amnesty International, or a non-profit of your choice.
