Marion “Mike” E. Drivas, passed away peacefully at home in Lansing on January 31, 2017, at the age of 89. 

Born December 29, 1927 in Chicago, IL, Mike was the son of the late John and Ann Irving Drivas. 

Mike proudly served his country with the US Marines for 22 years, fighting in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He met his wife, Miriam, while stationed in Okinawa, Japan where she was a school teacher on the military base. After Mike’s retirement from the military, they settled in Massachusetts where he worked at State Street Bank and Trust Company in Boston until his retirement.

Mike was a kind man who was loved by all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh, finding humor in any situation. In addition to his love for his family, Mike had a special place in his heart for his cats, Gunny and Hobo.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Miriam Ries Drivas; three daughters, Samantha Brown (Jack) of Lansing, Amy Drivas of CA, Marta Gerrity (Sean) of CA; and three sons, John Drivas (Judy) of MA, Thomas Drivas of CA, and Andy Drivas of CA; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Allison, and Harrison Brown of Lansing; Eric, Stephanie of MA; Kevin of IL; Glen, Paul, Cory, and Mary of CA; great-grandchildren TJ, Olivia, Zach, and Lily.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850; or Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.

Burial with full military honors will occur at Sampson Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Romulus, NY at a later date and will be announced at that time.
