Lisa Bishop Oltz, 70, of Ithaca, NY, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday May 3, 2025. Her sense of humor, contagious laugh, and lively presence will be missed by all who knew her.
Born December 14, 1954, to Roger and Ida Bishop of Ithaca, NY, Lisa spent much of her childhood enjoying time with family and friends at their lake home on Cayuga Lake. After graduating from Ithaca High School in 1972, she continued her education at SUC Brockport majoring in speech communication disorders, graduating with her B.S. in 1978. She subsequently was a dedicated 30+ year employee of Cornell University followed by 10 years of employment at TST BOCES. After retiring in 2019, she enjoyed leisurely part-time employment at Walgreens in downtown Ithaca, often remarking on seeing her local friends, valued customers, and family members who would stop in to pay her a visit.
Lisa shared a wonderful life with her husband of 41 years, Charles Oltz of Ithaca, NY, and together raised one daughter, Lindsey Callahan. Lisa recently welcomed her first grandson into her life, Timothy Charles Callahan, and found immense joy in taking him on adventures, introducing him to new foods, and watching him learn to laugh, crawl, and grow over the past 10 months.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, cooking, reading and baking her infamous Christmas cookies. She dedicated her life wholeheartedly to her family, giving her all with unwavering devotion and tireless effort. Her radiant smile, joyful laugh and beautiful presence brought happiness to everyone around her. She made people feel welcomed, loved, and uplifted. Her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.
Lisa is survived by her husband Charles Oltz, daughter Lindsey Callahan, and brother Roy Bishop.
