Lawrence Stoner “Larry” Bowman, 82, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. Born on December 9, 1943, in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late Vernon and Helen (Stoner) Bowman.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the renowned 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles.” Rising to the rank of Sergeant, he served from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1965.

Following his military service, Larry built a successful career as a skilled carpenter and woodworker. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship, keen eye for design, and unwavering attention to detail, he specialized in creating upscale kitchen and bathroom renovations. His dedication and expertise also led him to serve for several years as manager of Bishops Carpet One in Ithaca.

Outside of work, Larry found great joy in gardening and photography. He especially enjoyed photographing birds and faithfully documented countless family gatherings and milestones, earning the role of the family historian behind the camera. A devoted Notre Dame football fan, he also served as a stadium usher for eight years. Larry was a member of the Lansing Rod & Gun Club and previously served as president of the Ithaca Jaycees.

Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man whose love and support touched the lives of those around him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela (Bullett) Bowman; his son, Lawrence “Marty” Bowman; stepchildren, Kelly (Mark) Jensen and Todd (Teresa) Sherwood; several grandchildren, including Tyler, Danielle, Carter, Shane, Amanda, Gabrielle, and Brannon; many great-grandchildren; his brother, Ronald (Maxine) Bowman; his niece, Shannon Bowman; and his nephew, Derek Bowman.
