John Charles King

Born June 19, 1943 in New York City, John King was the eldest of three sons of Anne and Charles King. When John was a child, he and his family moved to their home in Jacksonville where he was a member of the Jacksonville Methodist Church.

John was a long-time resident of Ithaca as an adult. At the time of his death on September 26, 2026, he was a resident of Unity House on Danby Road.

John is predeceased by his parents and brother, Edward ‘Chip’ King. John is survived by a younger brother, Bill, and his wife Rose, of Davis, CA, and a cousin, Alice Martin, of Deposit, NY.

John will be remembered for his kindness, friendliness, and sunny disposition and always showing care and concern for the well-being of others.

He enjoyed helping others, gardening, animals, word puzzles, arts and crafts, good meals, music, writing letters to friends and family as well as being outside in nature and parks. John was well known in the community and always happy to meet new people and make new friends.

A private burial will be held at Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve.
