Jane Reolebile Heffron

Jane R. Heffron, 68, passed away at home, surrounded by family and loved ones, on October 19, 2017. Born in Gumare, Botswana, Jane moved to the United States from Botswana with her family in 2002. They made their home for many years in Lansing, and Jane had only recently moved to Ithaca. She was a gifted seamstress and also enjoyed cooking for all those that she welcomed into her home. Jane was a compassionate woman and always put others before herself. Family was Jane’s priority in life; she was fiercely dedicated to the wellbeing of her children and grandchildren. Jane is predeceased by her husband of 32 years, DeForest Heffron; as well as two sisters and brothers who lived in Botswana.
Jane is survived by her five children; Wame, Calley, Queen, Lydia and Lucas; thirteen grandchildren; her good friend, Kathleen Wadell; as well as extended family in Ithaca and Botswana. Family will be present to receive friends from 4-5pm, Monday, October 30th, at Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Rd., Lansing, NY. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Alison Schmied, will begin at 5pm.
