Ina Joan (Tyler) Boda

January 21, 1930 — May 3, 2025

Lansing, NY

Ina Joan (Tyler) Boda, age 95, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, at Groton Community Health Care Center in Groton, NY.

Born January 21, 1930, in Hector, NY, Ina was the daughter of the late Harold “Orrie” and Eolia “Peg” (Strong) Tyler. Ina, also known as “Punky” to many family and old friends, graduated from Ithaca High School in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Boda, in 1949 and built their family home in Danby, NY. They lived most of their lives in that home until her retirement in 1992 after 23 years from the Ithaca College Library. Upon retirement, they moved permanently to their cottage on Cayuga Lake in Lansing, NY. They enjoyed traveling across the United States and taking many trips with the Lansing Senior Citizens. Ina loved to sew and create beautiful quilts that took many prizes at the local quilt shows. Her quilts became family heirlooms as she passed them on to each family member and many friends. When she wasn’t sewing or baking, you would always find her reading her romance novels on the deck overlooking the lake.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Robert Boda; son, Charles Randall; parents, Harold and Eolia (Strong) Tyler; brother, Milton (Marge) Tyler; and sisters, Jean (Arthur) Masters and Norma (Bob) Wright.

Ina is survived by her children, Sue (Jack) French of Morning View, KY, and Bruce (Kristi) Boda of Danby, NY; grandchildren, Carrie Davenport of Dunkirk, NY, Jill (Andrew) Gravelin of Ocean City, MD, Katrina (Mannie) Jefferson of Quantico, MD, TJ (Danielle) French of Alexandria, KY, and Ashley Boda of Kissimmee, FL; great-grandchild, Solomon French of Alexandria, KY; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

As requested by Ina, there will be no calling hours and a celebration of life will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Road, Lansing, NY 14882, where she was a member since retirement but attended Worship in the Park every summer after purchasing their cottage in 1964. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Groton Community Health Care Center.
