George F. LaFave

George F. LaFave, 85, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017 at home in Newfield after an extended period of declining health. Born in Ithaca on November 3, 1931 to George and Kathryn (Woodall) LaFave, who along with wife Sandra, predeceased him. George is survived by 6 daughters; Lisa, Shelley, Sandra, Elizabeth, Sabrina and Perri; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard LaFave; in-laws, Robert and Susan Pierce; and life partner, Paul Foux. An admirer of antiques and clocks, George enjoyed restoring them as well creating unique furniture pieces. He was also prolific in a variety of artistic mediums, an all-around do-it-yourselfer and an avid dog lover. George had worked at NCR, Wilson Sporting Goods and retired from the Tompkins County Assessment Office.

At his request, there will be no public services. A private burial at Lansing Asbury Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may contribute in George’s memory to either Ithaca Community Recovery, 518 W. Seneca St., Ithaca, NY 14850 or Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
