Everett W. Davis, age 90, of Lansing, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, March 24, 2014, at Bridges at Cornell Heights, Ithaca.

Born March 18, 1924 in Cambridge Springs, PA, Everett was a son of the late Theodore and Helen (Satterlee) Davis. Everett proudly served his country with the US Army during WWII and was drafted prior to graduating from high school. He fought in Europe in 1944 and 1945, including the Battle of the Bulge. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from The Pennsylvania State University and eventually began his teaching career, ultimately retiring from Lansing Central School District.

Everett most enjoyed being with his family at the lake and particularly the simple pleasures spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always happy to push a swing, rock a baby, read a story, and lead the trips to Cream at the Top for ice cream.

A longtime resident of the Lansing community, Everett was a member of Lansing United Methodist Church, and a member of the Lansing Lions Club.

Everett is survived by his wife of 64 years, Meredith Miller Davis; their children, Deborah McMillan (Gary), Wesley Davis, Stephen Davis, Evan Davis (Maria), Keith Davis (Lisa), Lisa Heigl (Dieter); grandchildren, Matthew McMillan, Laura Santerre (Jason), John McMillan (Mickey), Andrew McMillen (Cristin), Racheal, Bethany, Joshua and Gabriel Davis, Benjamin Davis (Cathy), LTJG USN Sarah Davis, Allison Davis, Alexander and Benjamin Heigl; four great grandchildren; brothers, Paul Davis and Dewey Davis; and a large extended family.

In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by brothers Theodore "Ted", Hubert "Lyle", and Ellery "Norman" Davis, and sister Allegra Davis Rys.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Lansing Lion’s Club, PO Box 82, Lansing, NY 14882 or Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.

A memorial service, with Military Honors, will begin at 7pm, Friday, March 28th at Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Rd., Lansing, NY. Pastor Jane Sautter will officiate.

Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery will take place in the spring.

Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
