Daughter of Charles Sr. and Florence “Midge” Bower, whose memory she deeply adored and spoke of lovingly through her final days.
Elsie passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cortland NY. She was 83 years old.
She was predeceased by her husband, Martin J. Trinkl Sr., in September 2011; and her brothers, Charles “Junie” and Richard “Dick” Bower. Elsie leaves behind her three children, John Trinkl, Lindy (Larry) Wilcox, and Richard (Candi Collins) Trinkl; her grandchildren, Kara (Jacob Duell) Wilcox, Casey (Sierra) Wilcox, Styles Trinkl, Parker Trinkl, and Anthony (Michelle) Poole; her great-granddaughter, Ella Wilcox-Duell; her sisters, Carol Smith, Dorothy (Paul Gatch) Kesterson, and Mary (Kim) Kelly; her brother, Edward (Liz) Bower; numerous nieces and nephews; and her adored kitty, Layla.
A lifelong resident of Lansing, she attended Lansing Central Schools and married Marty in 1960. She worked for years in food service at Jamesway snack bar, Kathy’s Corner, Cornell Sage Dining Hall, and JJ Newberry. While working at Kathy’s Corner, she enjoyed giving popsicles to the children next door at Country Kids Playschool on hot summer days.
A kind happy soul who always looked for the good in people, she enjoyed going for walks, playing with her grandkids and great-granddaughter, taking car rides to nowhere in particular, visiting with the neighbor girls, Millie and Nora, and reminiscing about her childhood growing up in the old farmhouse on Ridge Road. She was a lifelong music fan, adoring Elvis Presley after seeing him live in-concert with her Sisters Dorothy and Carol in the 1970’s at one of his final concerts, and she loved listening to the classic country music on the Willie’s Roadhouse channel on SiriusXM.
She loved thrift shopping, laughing and reminiscing with her friends whom she met weekly at Café Square in the Pyramid Mall, and she loved caring for her pets throughout the years.
She will be missed dearly, and her memory will inspire happiness and laughter in all who knew and loved her for years to come.
