Elizabeth D. Whipple

Lansing/Ithaca

Elizabeth D. Whipple, formerly of Lansing, passed away June 17, 2014 at Beechtree Care Facility, Ithaca, at the age of 86.

Born May 23, 1928 in Lansing, she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Julia (Ronto) Kordas.

Elizabeth was a 1946 graduate of Ithaca High School, and was married to Robert R. Whipple in 1951. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage prior to Robert’s death in 2003. Elizabeth was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca and the Lansing Senior Citizens. She was a track and field competitor in the NY State Senior Games and she enjoyed cross country skiing.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Kordas and Joseph Kordas; sisters, Theresa Gaston, Elsie Mary Drier, and Helen Stillwell.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elizabeth’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St. Johnson City, NY 13790

A graveside service, officiated by Fr. Jeff Tunnicliff, will be held on June 24, 2014, 11am at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Rd., Ithaca.
