Elizabeth “Betsy” Patterson Yavits died peacefully surrounded by family on September 27, 2018.

Betsy was born on February 23, 1950, in Miami, Florida.  She spent her youth in her home state of Florida with a great love for her family and the ocean.  She graduated from St. Leo College in 1973 with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and from Elmira College in 1993 with a Master’s degree in Adult Education.  She married Robert “Bob” Yavits in 1984.  Together, they raised a son and a daughter.

Betsy lived a deeply spiritual life with a deep connection to God and her family.  She was passionate about genealogy and expressed her immense creativity through many endeavors, including bead work.  Tenderhearted and caring, Betsy was loved for her gentle nature.  All who knew Betsy will remember her warm, caring smile.

Betsy is survived by her husband Bob Yavits, daughter Lillian Yavits, brother George Patterson, and grandsons Owen, Theodore, and Gage.  She is preceded in death by her son Travis Yavits.

Betsy will be buried in a private ceremony on October 1, 2018.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2720 Slaterville Road, Slaterville Springs, NY.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betsy’s life.
