Douglas Herbert Howe (Doug), 87, of Arcade, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Buffalo, NY.
Doug was born on March 9, 1938, in Pulaski, NY, to Lee Arthur Howe Jr. and Lonnelle Howe (née Crossley) and grew up in Webster, NY, with his three brothers: Lee Arthur Howe III, David Howe, and James Howe.
After high school, Doug worked on a Ranch in Jackson Hole, WY, as a cowhand. It was there he discovered a love for horses and nature. He then joined the US Army and was stationed in Korea, where he met and married Ok Nae Pak. During their 20+ year marriage, they welcomed three children: Patrick Jun, Kenneth James, and Pamela Sue. Following time in the military, Doug worked in manufacturing. It was then that he found his passion for school bus driving, enjoying many years as a driver in Pittsford, and then in Arcade, before retiring, once again. Retirement afforded Doug countless hours spent volunteering for Camp Vick in Sandusky, NY. Doug loved spending his time camping and hiking, inviting many friends and family to enjoy Camp with him.
Doug is survived by his former wife, Ok Nae Wise (née Pak); three children: Patrick Howe (Lisa), Kenneth Howe (Cheryl), and Pamela Howe; four grandchildren: Amanda Gutierrez (Raul), Miles Howe, and Garrett and Sela Howe-Seaton; two great-grandchildren: Annelise and Matthew Gutierrez; as well as his two brothers, David Howe of Parkers Lake, KY, and James Howe (Mark Davis) of Yonkers, NY. He also leaves behind many other family and friends who will sorely miss him. He was predeceased by his brother, Lee Arthur Howe III (Susan Howe).
Doug’s burial service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve in Newfield, NY, at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend; please contact Pam Howe for more information.
A celebration of life will be announced in 2026.
