Dona Neno

Dona (Snapp) Neno, 87, of Brockport and formerly of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Berkshire, NY, on August 25, 1934, she was the only child of the late Sherman Reed and Ruby (Bemis) Snapp.  Dona graduated from Newark Valley High School and became employed with Grange League Federation in Ithaca.  She went on to work as a law secretary in Ithaca before embarking on a career at Lansing Central Schools, first as a teacher aide and retiring as a secretary.

Dona had a love for sewing, playing piano, and cats.  For many years, she was a leader for the 4-H Rec Club.  Later in life, she was an active member of the Lansing and Groton Senior Citizens and enjoyed her walks in the Ithaca mall with the walking group.

In part because she grew up as an only child, Dona was fiercely devoted to her family.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roderic S. Neno, on May 4, 2009.  She is survived by her son, Sam (Penny) Neno and grandchildren, Elly (Matt) Starner, Emmett (Stephanie) Neno, and Erin Neno; her daughter, Sue (Scott) McArthur and grandchildren, Tessa and Derek McArthur; and four great-grandchildren. 

Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Road, Lansing.  A memorial service officiated by Pastor David Quigley will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in North Lansing Cemetery at a later date.
