Catherine H. Jones

Catherine H. “Cathy” Jones, 84, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2025, with family by her side. Cathy was born in Elmira, NY, on February 27, 1941. The oldest of nine children, she was a graduate of Lansing High School. Cathy had a lifelong career with Tompkins Trust Company, where she was employed as the bank’s first female officer.

Cathy had a passion for hunting. When she was 63, she harvested a caribou in Alaska and went on to harvest a bull elk with a bow in Colorado later the same month. She served as treasurer for the New York State Taxidermy Association for 17 years and was supportive of her husband Martin’s taxidermy business, Battling Bucks Taxidermy. In addition to hunting, Cathy had a love for bowling, gardening, and animals. She could frequently be found feeding animals around her home, from birds to deer to stray cats.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Martin Jones II; children, Martin Jones III (Joanne), Faliesha Flynn (Dan) and Jim Ecker; grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsi Flynn, Joseph Jones, Haley Wells (Paul), and Cecelia, Ava and Finley Wetherell; and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two biological sisters and a brother, Gary Argetsinger. She was preceded in death by six biological siblings.

In keeping with Cathy’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or service.
