Blanche E. Farrell

Blanche E. Farrell passed away May 7, 2014, at the Beechtree Care Center, Ithaca, at the age of 92.

Born January 6, 1922 in Evans Mills, NY, Blanche was a daughter of the late Charles and Fannie (Wiswell) Neuroth. On July 27, 1940 she married Harold T. Farrell in Chaumont, NY. In 1945, the Farrell family moved from the Watertown area to Ithaca and established Farrell’s Appliance Store on North Tioga Street, where they served the Ithaca area for 55 years. Blanche wore many hats in the business, from sales to bookkeeping. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Harold T. Farrell, who passed away in 1999, and by thirteen siblings.

Blanche is survived by her daughters, Gail Ellsworth and Jane Phayre, both of Ithaca; three sons, Thomas of Ithaca, Theodore (Leona) of Willseyville, Frederick (Carol) of Millsboro, DE; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a large extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm, on Wednesday, May 14th at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY. The family will receive friends from 10am – 12pm, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca.
