Beverly Bender

Beverly Bender passed away at Oakhill Manor on October 11, 2015, at the age of 85. 

Beverly was a writer of haiku and stories, a second generation antique dealer, a Secondary Education English teacher, and a librarian.  She was a consummate pastry chef and a partner in her husband’s bakery. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, visiting culinary institutes and wonders of the world.  A lover of the theater, she was a regular at summer performances.  Most of all she loved her family, and she made every occasion a special celebration.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Bender; their children, Jane Bender Van Derzee (Thomas), Joel Bender (Jane-Margaret); and grandchildren, Lauren and Nicholas Van Derzee, Jakendra and Jessandra Bender.

Family will be present to receive friends at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY, on Friday, October 23, 2015, from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm.  A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Rick Bair, will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:00am at the same location.
