Betty June Fedorka, 86, of Lansing, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at her home with family by her side. Born May 24, 1931 in Virgil, she was a daughter of the late Byron and Bessie Sherman, and wife of the late Stephen Andrew Fedorka, Sr., who died in 2005. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a dedicated caregiver throughout her life. Her positive outlook was always reflected in her beautiful smile.Betty graduated from Virgil High School and worked as a telephone operator until she married her husband of 56 years, Stephen. Betty and Stephen were a glamorous couple. She took pride and pleasure in raising their five children, gardening and helping to run Fedorka Farms. Betty was very active in the community. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Lansing. She was a member of the Lansing Seniors and enjoyed her role as birthday card sender. Her other memberships included Lansing Historical Society, Lansingville Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary, Food Pantry, and Lansingville Grange. She spent many years helping Food Net serve meals at Woodsedge. Betty delighted in preparing and serving delicious meals to her family. Her prize cakes, jelly rolls, and cinnamon buns were relished by many. She loved butterflies, hummingbirds, taking photographs and singing.Betty is survived by her children, Stephen (Barb) Fedorka, Jr., Mary Fedorka, James (Holly) Fedorka and Edward Fedorka; grandchildren, Julia Fedorka, Tayra and Shayne Fedorka, Nathan Boles, Amanda and Jesse Fedorka, Leah Lloyd and Chivon Pedersen, Tammy Gregg, Betsy Golden and Angy Golden; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, John Charles Fedorka; grandson, Peter John Fedorka; brothers, Carl and Donald Sherman; and sister, Dorothy Rew.A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Daniel Ruiz-Sierra, will be held at 2:30pm, Friday, November 10, at All Saints Catholic Church, 347 Ridge Rd., Lansing. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, King Ferry. Friends may call from 5-7pm, Thursday, November 9 at the Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Lansingville Ladies Auxiliary, Attn: Barb, 1060 Salmon Creek Rd., Lansing, NY 14882.
