Benedetto Pasquale Muggeo
Benedetto Pasquale Muggeo, 82, of Lansing, NY died unexpectedly at Robert Packer Hospital on March 25, 2017.Â Born on November 28, 1934 in Endwell, NY to the late Pasquale and Rosa Muggeo, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maureen; their daughters Lisa (Tom) Feldman of Dunkirk, Maryland; Karen (Victor) Startsman of Rockville, Maryland; Diane (Charles) Mann of Endicott, New York; Carla (Kevin) Trolaro of Metuchen, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Sydney and Michael Feldman, Nathan and Benjamin Mann, and Nicole and Kylie Trolaro; sisters Lena Catalano and Delores Larque; and many nieces and nephews.
Ben attended the University of Miami and graduated from Broome Community College. While raising his four daughters he achieved his career goal of earning a Professional Engineering Certification.Â He worked as a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning professional engineer for General Electric, Cornell University, and several consulting engineering firms, including IBM and Dupont, until he retired in 2002.
After retirement, he was a passionate golfer, library volunteer, avid reader, member of the Lansing Writerâs Group, member and recently president of the Lansing-Ithaca Rotary Club, and Treasurer of the T&G Investment Club.
Through the years, Ben was a softball coach for all four daughters through Lansing Recreation and a devoted fan of his daughtersâ and grandchildrenâs involvement in sports and extracurricular activities.Â He spent many weekends traveling out of town to visit his daughters and their families.Â He loved his family vacations to Ocean City, MD and Jamaica and was often found under the beach umbrella with a good book. Â Ben had the opportunity to travel with family members on many ski vacations, trips to Aruba, Florida, Las Vegas and many Caribbean cruises.Â Ben also appreciated spending time on Cayuga Lake on his boat âMoâ, he treasured his many long-time friends, and loved living in the close-knit Lansing Community.
His unwavering faith in God guided him daily and he encouraged others to âkeep the faith, stay positive, and prayâ.Â He will be dearly missed, but we know in our hearts he will always be here in spirit.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7pm, Tuesday, March 28th at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY. A funeral service, officiated by Benâs niece, the Reverend Rosemary Mitchell, will be held at 3pm, prior to calling hours, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either the Lansing Community Library, 27 Auburn Rd., or the Lansing Recreational Programs, 29 Auburn Rd., both in Lansing, NY 14882.
