Anna D'Andrea

Anna emigrated from Italy with her family in 1957 and settled in New York City. She studied at Hunter College and became a language teacher and translator. In 1971, she met David Plank and moved to Montrose, PA with the desire to reestablish her connection with the land; at their homestead she took up basket-making, weaving, and gardening. Anna and David’s daughter, Clarissa, was born in 1987. Anna studied yoga at the Himalayan Institute, and reinvented herself as a holistic wellness practitioner, specializing in yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, energy work, and labyrinth walks. She founded and directed the Self Discovery Wellness Arts Center, which appeared in several iterations before settling at 200 Lake Avenue. She continued to teach in SUNY Broome higher education. She was beloved by her clients, students, and followers of her teachings. Anna exuded calmness and certainty – she was a comforting force and “bringer of the light” who helped many people on their journey to self-knowledge. We hold her close in our hearts.

Anna , my greatest teacher and dearest friend. Even now you are with me in my thoughts and my heart. I miss your presence, your voice, your laughter, your wisdom. If I close my eyes and become silent, you are there again. Hasta luego.

Yes, I too have been blessed by Anna's teachings and many wonderful memories in our journey for love, peace and joy, …for self discovery and to have her healing and teaching skills of Reiki as well as the Course in Miracles. I am one of many she has helped personally while giving us skills to help others. Bless her heart for having faith in us and now her spirit continues to shine…my love to her and to David and Clarissa …

I'll always be grateful for Anna's gift of reiki, being on the receiving end as well as being attuned to the master level. She literally changed my life, my thoughts, and outlook on life. I owe her a great depth of gratitude. We ceased contact years ago, but I will always be grateful for all that she has given me. The world is a dimmer place without her in it.

May she continue to walk in beauty, as she did everywhere she was. Her inner radiance lit the path that many of us trod.
