Anna emigrated from Italy with her family in 1957 and settled in New York City. She studied at Hunter College and became a language teacher and translator. In 1971, she met David Plank and moved to Montrose, PA with the desire to reestablish her connection with the land; at their homestead she took up basket-making, weaving, and gardening. Anna and David’s daughter, Clarissa, was born in 1987. Anna studied yoga at the Himalayan Institute, and reinvented herself as a holistic wellness practitioner, specializing in yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, energy work, and labyrinth walks. She founded and directed the Self Discovery Wellness Arts Center, which appeared in several iterations before settling at 200 Lake Avenue. She continued to teach in SUNY Broome higher education. She was beloved by her clients, students, and followers of her teachings. Anna exuded calmness and certainty – she was a comforting force and “bringer of the light” who helped many people on their journey to self-knowledge. We hold her close in our hearts.
