Alan Littlefair

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Alan Littlefair, 84, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at the Hospicare residence in Ithaca. Alan was born November 5, 1939 in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England to John Leslie (Les) and Gladys Littlefair (nee Grimwood).

Alan and Barbara Cox were childhood sweethearts and were married June 24, 1961. In 1969, together with their two young children, they moved to Augusta, Maine, where Alan became a draftsman at Augusta Iron Works. In 1972, Alan visited Ithaca, NY and fell in love with its natural beauty. The family moved to Lansing in 1973 when Alan became Chief Draftsman at Triangle Steel, Ithaca. They have enjoyed exploring the region since. 

Alan was a member of The Ithaca-Cayuga Rotary Club and was Chairman of Lansing High School’s Rotary International Exchange Program for over 7 years. He received the Rotary Paul Harris Award for his leadership skills, sponsored by a former draftsman from Triangle Steel.

Alan was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Peter. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 62 years; son, Grahame (Karie); daughter, Joanne (Carol); and beloved grandchildren, Jillian and Jason Littlefair, who were the delight of his life. He is also survived by his younger brother, David (Sally), and sister-in-law, Jean.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Alan’s Life in the near future, following interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing. A special thanks to the caring team at Hospicare, who made Alan’s final days peaceful and Barbara’s days by his side serene.
