Mable I. Teeter, age 88, of 73 Mary St., Ithaca, NY, formerly of Lansing, NY, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Groton Nursing Facility surrounded by her loving family.


Born in Lansingville, NY, on December 5, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Susie (Inman) Bachelor.  A lifelong resident of the Lansing area, Mable was employed at Smith Corona Manufacturing in Groton for many years.  She enjoyed 60 years of marriage with Oakley D. Teeter, Sr., before his passing in 1999.  She was a member of Lansing United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ithaca Moose Club.  Mable was an avid crafter and made numerous dolls and stuffed animals over the years.  She also enjoyed reading, puzzles and watching her favorite soap operas.


In addition to her parents and husband, Mable was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Teeter Spencer; a grandson, Sam Buck; and a great granddaughter, Sienna Bower.


She is survived by her children, Betty Buck of Ithaca; Oakley Teeter, Jr. of Candor; Terry (Liz) Teeter of Lansing; Connie (Steve) Doane of Vero Beach, FL; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Hughes of Groton.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Jane Sautter, will begin at 11:30 am, Thursday, July 29, 2010, at West Groton Cemetery, Cobb St., Groton, NY.
