Glenn L. Strauf of 165 Locke Rd., Locke, NY, passed away peacefully at home, in the company of family, on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the age of 83.

A son of Elmer and Fern (Hicks) Strauf, he was born in Homer, NY, on February 9, 1927.  A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Glenn’s first priority in life was family.  He held a special place in his heart for Zachary & Matthew Eastman and his “little ones” Tyler & Kamryn.  Whether it was family, friends or employees, a lot of people looked up to and admired Glenn for his dependability and generosity.  He loved to help people and never turned anyone away.

In 1974 with two trucks, Glenn founded G & L Trucking, Inc. and built it into the thriving business it is today.  He enjoyed deer hunting, riding his Harley, tinkering with classic cars, and in his early years, he competed on the local dirt tracks racing stock cars.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Strauf; sister, Dorothy Epp; and brother, Clarence Strauf.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. Strauf; their children, Deborah (Dwight) Usherwood of Lansing and Elizabeth Strauf of Lansing, and his children from a previous marriage; Dale (Jerra) Strauf of Homer, Joan (Jerry) Carey of Homer, Linda (Michael) O’Branski of Binghamton, David Strauf of Homer; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald, John, Lawrence and Lewis Strauf; and a large extended family.
